About Dawn...
For many years, Dawn has been singing and proclaiming the name of Jesus. She is a talented worship leader, psalmist, and songwriter who has a voice for the nations.
Dawn began singing at the tender age of five at her childhood church. She later continued to sing in middle school and high school as well. Dawn was awarded several times for "Outstanding Choral Member" of 1986 -1987 and 1988 at her high school. She also had a talent in acting and played the gospel singer in the stage musical, "Purlie". Along with this talent, Dawn dealt with dark times in her life. Dawn grew up with a verbal abusive alcoholic father. At times, Dawn's grades dropped in school. She remembers going to sleep during class due to long nights filled with fears and endless tears. Dawn's family moved from house to house for many years struggling to stay afloat in life's turbulent streams. But, GOD sustained Dawn and her family. Her parents divorced in her teen years but, this was only the beginning of a life of sexual activity, partying, depression, thoughts of taking her life and low self-esteem. Even through all of the ungodly relationships and dramas that formed in her life...GOD had another plan!
As the pages turn towards her destiny...Dawn began singing with different local choirs and groups. She sang with "The Voices of Joy","Youth On The Move For Christ" and "The Youth Gospel Music Workshop" under the direction of Janice Moorehead. Dawn has travelled to Europe on tour singing with "The Golden Gospel Pearls". She has been to Sweden,Munich,Frankfurt, Austria, Russia, Switzerland and Canada as well. Dawn has opened for artist like Terri Carroll and Dottie Peoples. In April of 2004, Dawn sang lead background vocals for Karen Clark-Sheard in the gospel stage play "A House Divided" written by Gwendolyn Jackson & Marty Casey. She has also done outreach projects around the city. Dawn has ministered at The National Association of Black Drag Racecar Drivers on Black Sunday held in Illinois. Currently,Dawn ministers at her church as a worship leader and is working on new songs for her future praise and worship project.
So as you can see, Dawn is ready to go out and bless the Lord who has set her FREE!
